The Lofoten Islands are undoubtedly one of the most amazing and original areas of our planet to experience perfect ski touring holidays. The archipelago is located far outside the North Atlantic Ocean on the northwest coast of Norway.

Even the journey to the island of Austvagoya with the speedboat "Norlandsekspressen" from Bodø to Svolvaer via the Vestfjord is typically Norwegian and promises an adventurous week. Every winter, hundreds of fishing boats gather on the stormy Vestfjord, usually with a flock of hungry seagulls in tow.
The selection of almost 40 well-known ski peaks would be enough for at least the whole winter season! Depending on the weather conditions, we visit one of these many dream mountains every day with our touring skis.

The most spectacular ski tours are all around Austnesfjord and on the island archipelago around Svolvaer and Henningsvaer on Austvagoya Island. The descent and the view from one of the highest peaks in the area, Geitgaljartind (1,085 m), is not the only highlight. On the other side of the fjord, white snow flanks shine brightly, but all tours have this unique view out to the North Sea and the Vestfjord in common. This experience - ski touring from the summit to the fjord - remains unforgettable!

The daily climbs with the climbing skins under the skis are between 600 – 1300 HM (average only 800 – 1000 HM) and last 3 – 4 hours depending on the tour. The Summit heights are only between 600 m and 1100 m high and on request, exceedances or two peaks a day are possible.

The terrain varies greatly and, depending on your ability and the snow conditions, you choose from generous, wide slopes or steep, rock-strewn gullies, often, of course, with runs down to the sea or fjord.

After the tours, don't forget: Stop off in Svolvaer at the Bacalao Bar, the meeting place for skiing and surfing enthusiasts.

The restaurant is considered one of the best fish restaurants in Lofoten and fresh Lofoten cod is always at the top of the menu. Freshly caught between January and April is the skrei- this is the name of the cod when it travels from the Barents Sea to the coast. Northern Norway migrates to spawn. The largest specimens are all found around Lofoten, Vesteralen and the island of Senja.
