Dream Ski tour Finsteraarhorn: in spring on the highest peak of the Bernese Alps! Until well into early summer, the mountains between Jungfraujoch and Goms in Valais are covered in deep snow. The long glaciers are made for epic ski tours, the skis simplify access to this vast area and as a reward await at the Ski Tour Finsteraarhorn breathtaking descents, often still in the higher regions in powder snow. From Jungfraujoch above Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen, we reach on the first day via Konkordiaplatz and Grünhornlücke the cozy Finsteaarhornhütte in arctic surroundings. Here we spend two nights and climb at the Ski Tour Finsteraarhorn the mighty Finsteraarhorn with the skis to the Hugisattel, with the crampons at the end it goes climbing over easy rock passages to the summit. The descent to the hut promises the highest skiing pleasure! A last tour on the third day brings us in good conditions down to the Goms to Reckingen, from there by train comfortably back to Grindelwald or directly home!

Requirement level: Advanced
For this demanding high altitude ski tour you should be very confident in controlling your skis in all types of snow, also on exposed passages in steep slopes and through glaciated terrain. Experience in handling the rope in glaciated terrain is an advantage. You should already have experience with easier ski tours (e.g. BERIE Level I) in order to have no problems with steep ascents with hairpin bends. A very good condition for demanding ski tours in the high mountains of 6 - 8 hours is the basis to enjoy this tour.

Complete organization of the trip
The evening before arrival to Grindelwald-Grund, Hotel "Eigerlodge" for discussion and material check. The overnight stay in a multi-bed room is included in the tour price. Dinner together in Grindelwald to get to know each other.
Day 1: Breakfast in the morning at the Eiger Lodge in Grindelwald-Grund at 7:00 am or meeting point at the Terminal of the Eiger Express at 7:50 am. Joint trip to Jungfraujoch from 8:00. First descent with the skis to Konkordiaplatz. From there further, slow ascent over the Grüneggfirn to the Grünhornlück and descent / ascent to the Finsteraarhorn hut. (3048 m), duration: 6 - 7 h / ascent 700 hm / descent 1100 hm, 14 km.
Day 2: We set off from the hut before sunrise. We climb with the skis to the Hugisattel and from there (ski depot) we climb with the crampons over well stepped, snow-covered rock exposed to the summit of the mighty mountain. Breathtaking, uniquely beautiful and impressive! From the Hugisattel, the entertaining dream descent to the hut terrace awaits. A day that will be remembered for a long time! Day 3: Unfortunately, we leave this wonderful place today and descend to Rotloch via the Fieschergletscher. From here we climb over the Galmi glacier to the Bächilücke. Another steep descent down into the Valais, into the sunny Goms, into the middle of flowering spring meadows and fragrant larch forests to Reckingen awaits us. Journey home from Reckingen by train via Brig and Lötschberg. Descent: 2350 hm / Ascent: 700 hm, 6 h / 15 km

The dream tour to Finsteraarhorn is the perfect ski high tour in spring. The mighty glacier streams of the Aletsch region are even better and safer to walk on skis than on foot. We offer this tour in the months between mid-March and the end of May. With a lot of power the spring sun is often shining then, nevertheless there can often still be days with wonderful powder snow. This ski tour is best suited for advanced participants, as there are some hurdles to overcome. You should be able to ski safely in all types of snow and be in good physical condition. Likewise Experience in glaciated terrain is an advantage. We are on the ski tour Finsteraarhorn steadily in the high mountains. The tour is therefore ideal as the end of the season. Ideal as preparation are easier ski tours in high winter and as an introduction a deep snow course at our popular dates in Engelberg or Andermatt.
