Arrival is on Friday with the flight from Zurich to Moscow and on to Abakan:
Friday: In the afternoon (approx. 13:00) flight to Moscow and night flight to Abakan.
Saturday: due to the time difference Moscow-Abakan of 4 h, we reach Abakan in the early morning hours. Rich Russian breakfast and onward journey by private bus to the railway station of the Siberian Railway. Rail journey to Luzhba, approx. 1.5 h. Arrival at the lodge in the afternoon. Friday: 5 days guided ski tours/splitboarding from the Mountain Lodge.
Sunday - Saturday:
Ski tours in the best, light, unfaded powder snow of Siberia. A winter landscape that we almost don't find in the Alps anymore. Medium-length ascents (500 - 700 hm) permit crossings and several ascents and descents. This way we get a good 1200 hm downhill runs every day and are on our way for 4 - 5 hours in the fantastic nature with cold temperatures (up to - 20 degrees). The almost windless weather guarantees us forest descents in untracked "deep powder snow". In the afternoon we relax in the hot Banya of our lodge. In the evening of the last day we travel back to Abakan to spend the night in a good hotel before the flight back to Moscow on Sunday.
Sunday: Due to the time difference we spend a few more hours in Moscow and can (optionally) do a Sigthseeeingtour. The Victory Column and the Kremlin are worth a visit. Return flight and arrival in the evening in Zurich approx. 21:00 o'clock.
Description
Come with us to our newly discovered jewel for ski touring and powder snow enthusiasts in the Altai Mountains in cool Siberia!
We start into the winter season with this new trip with "Ski tours in Siberia in the best powder snow". In Siberia there is only this one form of snow!
The Altai Mountains lie far in the east of Russia and you can only get to our tour area by the Trans-Siberian Railway. On a ski tour to Elbrus in the Caucasus, the idea was born to travel here with BERIE ski tours guests and to explore this unique landscape. Between Novokusnetzk and Abakan (not Askaban like Harry Potter) lies the tiny village of Luzhba on the railway line. Here is our lodge with its own hot sauna as a base camp for ski tours in the Siberian mountains. Light high forests and snow that fell almost without wind, a mountain landscape like from the picture book of bygone times we explore with the skis and experience thundering dream descents in a terrain that allows a lot of leeway.
The individual ascents of the tours are rather comfortable from 700 hm, therefore we will skim several times and ascend again to enjoy daily up to 1400 hm on descents.
In the evening, the Russian cook spoils us with hearty food from the local kitchen and of course a glass of vodka before we climb into the hot sauna.
The Altai is very remote and famous for its customs and traditions. It still has many shamans and healers, the people here lead a very remote life, far away from the metropolis of Moscow. On the return journey before the flight to Zurich, there is still the opportunity to take a look at the blossoming capital during a guided city tour. The ski touring season couldn't start better! Do you like Russia? Then come with us to the Elbrus ski tour in the Caucasus in spring....
