Some info...
The Great Aletsch Glacier is the mightiest glacier in the Alps. While there is a lot of snow on top of Jungfraufirn even in summer, the end of the glacier in Valais changes very quickly. Follow this large stream of ice at a slow pace and learn many exciting backgrounds from your mountain guide along the way. Have you ever seen the intense blue at the bottom of a crevasse?
Your tour begins spectacularly with a train ride through the Eigerwand to the Jungfraujoch (3450 m) in the UNESCO World Heritage Jungfrau-Aletsch. From up there you hike, roped up by the mountain guide, over the snow-covered glacier and past the "Jungfrau" to the Konkordiaplatz and to the hut of the same name. On the way there are also many 4000m summits to admire. Here at Konkordiaplatz all the glacier streams flow together and unite to form the Aletsch Glacier itself. The ice here is still almost 900 meters thick. It feels impressive to be in the centre of this stream. Over a long, steep metal staircase you reach the comfortable Konkordiahütte, which is enthroned on the rocks above the glacier panorama. Enjoy the welcome aperitif and marvel even more at the impressions of the day. Overnight stay at the Konkordiahütte with breathtaking sunset.
On the second day descent on the glacier stream rutted by crevasses to Lake Märjelensee. Here you have solid ground under your feet again, green meadows of wool grass and picturesque ponds welcome you after all the ice and snow. Last stop and end with a fine rösti and cold drinks. In the early afternoon you hike another hour to the Fiescheralp. Descent with the cable car to Fiesch. Continue your journey by train from Fiesch.
