The ultimate Summer Trekking – the mini-Haute route from Arolla to Zermatt.
The area around the north side of Matterhorn, Dent D ´ Heres and the dent Blanche is often referred to as the "small Himalayas" of Switzerland. Not only because of the Buddhist prayer flags and the Sherpa chef on the Schönbielhütte – the views of so many 4000m peaks and the huge glacier landscapes of the Alps are simply breathtaking! The contrast with hiking from the French-speaking Val D ´ Heren to the area of the German-speaking Walser to Zermatt is also delightful. At the end of the tour you climbed from the Gandegg hut with the Breithorn (4076 m) Perhaps your first 4000m peak? Meeting point: Hôtel du Glacier CH-1986 Arolla, Val d ´ Heres, Valais at 10:00 pm (arrival Postbus from Sion at 9:55 pm. Good train connections in the Valais to Sion/Sierre and from there by Postbus to Arolla)
We recommend to spend a night in Arolla so that you can get used to the mountain air. Wonderful hikes are possible from Arolla. We are happy to advise you and recommend our favourite hikes in the area.

The icy north faces of Dent D ´ Heres and Matterhorn are a contrast to the green mats around the hut.
Day 3: Above the Zmuttgletschers hike today to the Staffelalp and the romantic Schwarzsee (2552 m). Via Pleasant hiking trails we reach the "dry footbridge" and above on 3029-m the day destination – the Gandegg hut at the foot of the Theodulgletschers.
Day 4: You climb a 4000m peak today: After a time of departure, you reach the wide horn Pass (3824 m) below the small Matterhorn. From there it is not far to the summit of the wide Horn (4078 m) which you can reach last over a steep firn ridge – the view reaches from Montblanc to the Bernese Oberland!
