Steep, snow-capped glacier mountains and sparkling, emerald-green lagoons and lakes. The Highlands in the Cordillera Blanca at Huaraz is for me a perfect mixture between was millet Highlands and the icy heights of the Himalayas: the warmth and tropical diversity of Africa at the lower altitudes and at the very top the sky high steep snow peaks the Over 6000-M.

The trekking around the Alpamayo (the "Matterhorn" of South America) and the Taulliraju was therefore again a great experience for all participants and a complete success. The trails and trails that were already used in front of the Incas as "trade routes" are made to run for days and to vent their heads again. It never gets dull or monotonous – the scenery constantly changes and there is something new to discover. In the evening, the tents stand on a dreamlike lagoon and the campfire of driftwood crackles with a toast. Our escort team with their donkeys and mules take over the brunt of our luggage and prepare fine dishes from regional products. At the end of an extensive trekking day, we cuddle in the tent in the warm down sleeping bag and sleep deeply and relaxed – only silence and the night sky of the southern hemisphere strewn over us.

With 3 participants I climbed towards the end of the journey still on the glacial Toccllaraju (6034 m). Below the gigantic peak cornice, a 70 degree steep edge of the slope demanded the use of both of the equipment. A sporty but safe tour for experienced mountaineers.

We first looked at Machu Picchu and the Inca city of Cusco. Despite the high numbers of visitors, these Inca ruins are simply overwhelming to look at. The city of Cusco scores with a lot of flair, especially when you stroll in the evening over the Plaza San Francisco and through the Centro Historico...
