A gentle and cautious introduction to the glaciated world of the high mountains. We enjoy the comfort and the fine food in the hotel and are adventurous during the day in the snow, ice and rock. Sun-warm, grippy climbing rocks and turquoise blue, mighty glacier streams dominate the blue landscape of the Bernina. Ideal terrain to develop fun and passion for mountaineering. Abseiling, climbing, the use of ropes, crampons and ice axes, crevasse rescue and exciting glacier tours to the foot of the Piz Palü really whet your appetite for the mountain summer!
Ideal as a summer start, even if you have no idea about mountaineering.

The facts

2 x overnight stay with breakfast buffet in a comfortable 4-bed room, "Al Vadret" Hotel Morteratsch
1 x overnight stay with half board 4-bed room Berghaus Diavolezza
daily sandwich and Thermos refill
Day 1: Climbing, abseiling and knot-tying on the gneiss cliffs in Val Morteratsch. Overnight stay at the Hotel Morteratsch.
Day 2: Ice training on the Morteratsch glacier. Crampon techniques, sensible handling of the ice pick, handling the rope, crevasse rescue exercises. Overnight stay at the Hotel Morteratsch.
Day 3: Application tour with lead change on the crevasse-rich glacier to Isla Pers and to Berghaus Diavolezza. Braking and holding exercises in steep firn and snow. Overnight stay at Berghaus Diavolezza.
Day 4: Glacier tour to the Cambrena ice fractures at the foot of Piz Palü. Once again intensive practice of crevasse rescue and self rescue on the glacier. Finish on the sun terrace of the Berghaus Diavolezza. Ride with the cable car down to the valley.
