Our attractive round trip from Bannalp without a long journey from the Mittelland. With the support of two cableways - Bannalp and Gitschenen - you can reach many metres of downhill altitude. From the Nidwaldischen Oberrickenbach we start with the aerial cableway and float to fog-free 1600 m. The aerial cableway is the gateway to a foothills of the Alps with high mountain character, stretching from the Walenstöcken to the Urirotstock. The simplest summit is certainly the Chaiserstuel with a respectable north face and an even better view of the Glarus, Schwyz and Uri Alps. From the Chaiserstuel we look forward to a 1000 m descent in best powder down to the Grosstal. Unbeatable. And at Sankt Jakob the next rustic cable car awaits us, which takes us back to the skiing area Gitschenen to the restaurant at the mountain station. Strengthened by a wholesome Urner house coffee we raise the skins again and climb into the Sulztal and still further up to the Sinsgauer Schonegg. Optimum snow conditions often prevail on the last descent back to Ober Spis where the cable car took us to Bannalp in the morning.
